Canna Endeavor for Sale — Brilliant Red Tropical Water Canna for Pond Margins and Water Gardens

If you’ve been searching for Canna Endeavor for sale, Quinn’s Fins grows Canna glauca ‘Endeavor’ right here in our on-site nursery greenhouse. Canna Endeavor is one of the most visually striking and reliably spectacular water garden plants available — a Longwood Gardens hybrid cultivar developed specifically as a true water-loving canna for pond margins, shallow water gardens, and bog plantings. Its brilliant scarlet red honeysuckle-shaped blooms appear continuously from July through September on bold upright stems that reach 4 to 6 feet tall, rising above large, broad, lance-shaped bright green leaves that create a dramatic tropical presence at the pond edge visible from across the yard. Unlike many garden canna varieties that struggle or rot in standing water, Canna Endeavor for sale at Quinn’s Fins is a genuine aquatic marginal that thrives with roots submerged in shallow water up to 6 to 8 inches deep — making it one of the most impactful and easy-care background plants for any water garden or koi pond. Ships in a 2″ pot ready to establish.

Why Canna Endeavor for Sale Is a Must-Have Water Garden Plant

Canna Endeavor occupies a unique category in the water garden plant world — a true water-loving tropical that delivers the bold, continuous bloom performance of a garden canna with the genuine shallow-water tolerance that most cannas do not have.

  • Brilliant scarlet red honeysuckle-shaped flowers — continuous blooming July through September for months of spectacular color
  • 4–6 feet tall — bold vertical background presence that creates a dramatic tropical focal point visible from across the water garden
  • True water canna — one of the few Canna varieties that thrives in shallow pond water up to 6–8 inches deep
  • Longwood Gardens hybrid — developed by one of the world’s premier horticultural institutions specifically for water garden use
  • Large bright green lance-shaped foliage — beautiful even when not in bloom; provides excellent backdrop for smaller water garden plants
  • Attracts hummingbirds and butterflies — exceptional pollinator magnet throughout the summer bloom season
  • Excellent equipment screen — tall dense growth effectively conceals pond filters, pumps, and unsightly equipment
  • Hardy in Zones 7b–11 — overwinters in the pond in warm climates; rhizomes stored indoors in colder zones

Growing Canna Endeavor — Care at a Glance

Light

Canna Endeavor performs best in full sun — at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal blooming. In full sun, flowers are most prolific, most vivid in color, and the plant reaches its full 4–6 foot height. In partial shade, the plant devotes more energy to leaf development and produces fewer flowers — full sun is strongly recommended for the spectacular bloom display this plant is known for.

Water Depth and Planting

Canna Endeavor is a true water marginal — plant in a 5-gallon or larger aquatic container filled with rich loamy soil and set in the pond with water covering the pot to a depth of up to 6 to 8 inches. For best results, place the rhizome in at least 2 to 4 inches of soil before covering with water. This containerized approach controls the rhizome’s spread and makes overwintering removal simple. Canna Endeavor also performs well planted directly in the moist boggy margin beside the pond where roots can access consistent moisture without full submersion.

Fertilization — Essential for Bloom Performance

Canna Endeavor is a heavy feeder — regular fertilization is essential for vigorous growth and prolific bloom production. Use a balanced aquatic fertilizer or water garden fertilizer tablet pushed into the container soil every 3–4 weeks throughout the growing season. Unfertilized plants will grow but produce significantly fewer flowers and smaller leaves than regularly fed specimens.

Hardiness and Overwintering

Canna Endeavor is hardy in USDA Zones 7b–11. In Zones 9–11, plants can remain in the pond year-round in mild winters. In Zones 7b–8, apply a deep mulch layer over the container and move to the shallowest area of the pond to keep rhizomes from freezing. In Zones 7 and colder, remove the container from the pond in autumn, cut foliage back to 6 inches, and store rhizomes in a cool, dark, frost-free location (50–60°F) until spring. Replant after last frost the following spring.

Pest Management

Canna leaf rollers are the most common pest issue — larvae roll themselves inside emerging leaves and feed on the foliage, causing large dead patches and holes. Treat with spinosad or Bacillus thuringiensis spray once per week, alternating between products. At the end of the growing season, cut all foliage and dispose of it — do not compost — to prevent larvae from overwintering in the leaf material and reinfesting plants the following year.

Spread and Containment

Canna Endeavor spreads via rhizomes — in managed water garden settings, container planting is recommended to control rhizome spread and simplify annual maintenance. Rhizomes are pachymorphic — they spread and form bulbs rather than running indefinitely — and are manageable in garden settings. Never allow rhizomes to escape into natural waterways or wetlands.
