Description
Anubias × ‘Frazeri’
Description:
Anubias × ‘Frazeri’ is a striking hybrid aquatic plant, created by crossing Anubias barteri and Anubias angustifolia. It features the best of both parent plants: elongated, lance-shaped leaves and the signature durability and low-maintenance nature of the Anubias genus. Its upright, bushy growth habit makes it an excellent choice for the midground or background of nano to large planted aquariums.
This variety grows to about 8–12 inches tall, forming a loose cluster of broad, arching green leaves on a thick rhizome. Like all Anubias, Anubias ‘Frazeri’ is a rhizome plant that should be attached to hardscape (wood, rock, or decor) rather than buried in substrate to avoid rot. It thrives in low to moderate lighting, is highly adaptable, and grows slowly, making it a great choice for low-tech or shrimp tanks.
Its hardy structure and resistance to most fish make it ideal even in community tanks or those with more boisterous inhabitants.
Care Tips:
Lighting: Low to moderate; intense light may cause algae buildup.
Substrate: Not required; secure rhizome to hardscape using thread or glue.
Water Parameters:
Temperature: 68°F–82°F
pH: 6.0–7.5
Hardness: Soft to hard water tolerant
Tank Size: Suitable for most aquarium sizes, from nano to large.
Growth Rate: Slow to moderate.
Maintenance: Minimal—remove any damaged leaves and gently clean if algae forms.
Anubias × ‘Frazeri’ is ideal for aquarists looking for a slender-leaved Anubias variety with a classic, structured appearance. Its upright form adds graceful movement and greenery to aquascapes with very little effort.
