Description
Dracaena variagatus for Sale — Gold-Striped Lucky Bamboo With Warm Yellow Variegation
If you’ve been searching for Dracaena variagatus for sale, Quinn’s Fins grows this warm-toned Lucky Bamboo variety right here in our on-site nursery greenhouse. Dracaena variagatus — Gold Variegated Lucky Bamboo — is the most visually warm and luminous of the three Lucky Bamboo forms we carry, producing the same elegant upright bamboo-like stems and lance-shaped leaves as the green and white-variegated forms, but with a distinctly different and richer coloration: each glossy leaf is edged in warm yellow-gold margins that glow in indirect light and create a tropical, luminous warmth above the aquarium waterline that neither the plain green nor the cooler white-striped form can replicate. Where the white-variegated form creates bright, crisp, high-contrast display, Dracaena variagatus creates a softer, richer, more naturally complementary visual presence — particularly effective in aquascapes featuring driftwood, brown stones, and warm earth-toned hardscape elements where the golden leaf edges echo the natural colors of the wood and rock below. As with all Lucky Bamboo, Dracaena variagatus for sale at Quinn’s Fins is used with roots submerged and stalks growing above the waterline. Ships bare root at $5.99.
Key Features of Dracaena variagatus
- Warm yellow-gold margins on glossy green lance-shaped leaves — a richer, more luminous variegation than the cooler white-striped form
- Most naturally complementary to driftwood and warm earth-toned hardscape — gold edges echo the natural colors of wood and rock
- Same elegant upright bamboo-like stems as green and white variegated Lucky Bamboo
- Same aquarium and paludarium use — roots submerged, stalks and leaves above the waterline
- Root system provides fish and shrimp habitat below the waterline
- Low to moderate indirect light — gold variegation most vivid under bright indirect light
- Feng Shui symbolism — gold coloration is particularly associated with wealth and prosperity in traditional Chinese Feng Shui
- Easy propagation — stem cuttings root in water within 2–3 weeks
Growing Dracaena variagatus — Care at a Glance
Critical Use Note — Roots Submerged, Stalks Above Water
Dracaena variagatus is not a true aquatic plant and cannot be fully submerged indefinitely. Like all Lucky Bamboo varieties, the correct aquarium and paludarium placement is roots and the base of the stem submerged in water, with upper stalks and leaves growing freely above the waterline. Fully submerged stems will eventually rot, fouling the water.
Gold Variegation and Light
The yellow-gold leaf margins of Dracaena variagatus are stable and do not require special care to maintain. The gold coloration is most vivid and luminous under bright indirect light. In low-light conditions, the gold tones are less pronounced but still visible and attractive. Avoid direct sunlight, which causes scorching on the gold-margined leaf edges.
