Bucephalandra Mini Boyan for Sale — Rare Miniature Marbled Buce for Detailed Aquascapes
If you’ve been searching for Bucephalandra Mini Boyan for sale, Quinn’s Fins grows this rare, compact Bucephalandra variety right here in our on-site nursery greenhouse. Bucephalandra Mini Boyan is a miniature cultivar prized for its deep green coloration accented by a prominent central vein running down each leaf, with a distinctive marble effect that blends green, brown, and red-purple tones when grown under optimal conditions. Its small, rounded, slightly wavy leaves and tight, compact rhizome growth make Mini Boyan one of the most detail-oriented Buce varieties available — perfectly scaled for nano tanks, shrimp tanks, and the kind of fine foreground-to-midground detail work that distinguishes a serious aquascape. Under good lighting, the leaves can develop a genuine iridescent quality characteristic of the entire Bucephalandra genus. Bucephalandra Mini Boyan for sale at Quinn’s Fins is available bare root (SKU 6140-1, $8.99) or in a 2″ pot (SKU 6140-2, $10.99).

Growing Bucephalandra Mini Boyan — Care at a Glance
Never Bury the Rhizome
Like all Bucephalandra, Mini Boyan is an epiphyte — the rhizome and roots should be attached to driftwood or rocks, never buried in substrate. A buried rhizome rots and kills the plant. Use a small dab of aquarium-safe super glue gel or wrap with thread or fishing line until roots take hold (typically 2–3 weeks).
Light and Algae
Mini Boyan grows relatively slowly, so its leaves can be susceptible to algae growth — place it in a slightly shaded area of the aquarium for best results. Given optimal care, growth is dense, healthy, and colors intensify. CO2 is not required but enhances coloration and growth rate when used.
Leaf Melt — Normal on Introduction
Most Bucephalandra is grown emersed at nurseries — leaf melt after submersion is a normal transition response. Nutrients are stored in the rhizome; as long as it remains firm and healthy, new submerged leaves will emerge over several weeks. Avoid sudden parameter changes, which Bucephalandra tolerates poorly.
Water Parameters
- Temperature: 70–82°F (21–28°C)
- pH: 6.0–8.0
- CO2: Not required; enhances color and growth speed
- Light: Low to medium
Propagation
Propagate by separating the rhizome with sharp, clean scissors at natural bends where the plant has formed separate foliage clumps. Attach each division to new hardscape with super glue gel or thread.
