Anubias Nangi on Malaysian Driftwood

$39.99

Anubias Nangi on Driftwood is a rare and refined aquarium centerpiece — a fully established specimen of Anubias ‘Nangi’, an uncommon hybrid of Anubias barteri ‘Nana’ × Anubias gilletii developed by Robert Gasser in the 1980s, pre-mounted on a natural 8–10″ piece of Malaysian driftwood and ready to place. Its elongated, pointed bright green leaves — deeper and richer green as the plant matures — deliver clean, refined contrast in any aquascape. Low light, no CO2, beginner-friendly and shrimp safe. Nursery-grown at Quinn’s Fins — $39.99.

Anubias Nangi on Driftwood for Sale — Rare Pointed Leaf Hybrid Pre-Mounted and Ready to Place

If you’ve been searching for Anubias Nangi on driftwood for sale, Quinn’s Fins grows and mounts Anubias ‘Nangi’ right here in our on-site nursery greenhouse. Anubias Nangi is one of the rarer Anubias hybrids in the planted aquarium hobby — a cross between Anubias barteri ‘Nana’ and Anubias gilletii first developed by aquarist Robert Gasser in the 1980s. It produces elongated, pointed bright green leaves distinctly different from the typical rounded leaves of common Anubias varieties — leaves that emerge as a vivid, fresh bright green and gradually deepen to a rich, dark green as they mature, creating a dynamic visual character that changes subtly over time. Pre-mounted on a natural 8 to 10 inch piece of Malaysian driftwood, Anubias Nangi on driftwood for sale at Quinn’s Fins arrives ready to place directly in your aquarium with zero setup required.

Why Anubias Nangi on Driftwood for Sale Is Worth Seeking Out

Anubias Nangi is genuinely less common in the aquarium trade than its Nana relatives — a plant that Anubias collectors and serious aquascapers seek out specifically for its distinctive leaf form and reliable hybrid performance.

  • Distinctive elongated, pointed bright green leaves — fundamentally different from rounded Nana and Barteri varieties
  • Leaves emerge bright green and deepen to rich dark green as they mature — dynamic color development over time
  • Rare Robert Gasser hybrid from the 1980s — a collectible cultivar with genuine aquarium hobby history
  • Pre-mounted on natural 8–10″ Malaysian driftwood — place directly in your aquarium with zero preparation required
  • Compact and manageable midground size — ideal for tanks of all sizes from nano to large display
  • Low to moderate light requirement — thrives without specialized lighting equipment
  • No CO2 injection required — ideal for low-tech setups and beginners
  • Shrimp, snail, and invertebrate safe — excellent shelter and grazing surfaces for small inhabitants

About Malaysian Driftwood

Malaysian driftwood sinks immediately without soaking, releases tannins that create beneficial blackwater chemistry, and provides a natural, permanent mounting surface for Anubias Nangi’s rhizome to grip and expand across over time. Each piece is unique in natural form within the 8–10″ size range.

Growing Anubias Nangi — Care at a Glance

Never Bury the Rhizome

Never bury the rhizome in substrate. The rhizome is the thick horizontal stem from which all leaves and roots emerge — burial causes rot and kills the plant. Your pre-mounted piece arrives with the rhizome correctly positioned on the driftwood surface.

Placement

Anubias Nangi is a midground plant — its compact size and upward-reaching pointed leaves work beautifully positioned in the center of the tank where the leaf form can be appreciated from the front viewing angle. It pairs naturally with broader-leaved plants and with fine-leaved stem plants where its clean pointed leaf profile creates strong textural contrast.

Light

Anubias Nangi thrives in low to moderate lighting. Avoid intense direct illumination — slow-growing leaves are susceptible to algae colonization under high light without CO2 competition from faster-growing plants. Position under floating plants or taller stem plants for natural algae management.

Water Parameters

  • Temperature: 72–82°F (22–28°C)
  • pH: 6.0–7.5
  • Hardness: Soft to moderately hard
  • Flow: Low to moderate

CO2 & Fertilization

CO2 is not required for Anubias Nangi to thrive. Liquid fertilizer supplementation — particularly iron and micronutrients — supports healthy leaf development and the vivid green coloration that makes this cultivar distinctive. In fish tanks with established bioload, supplementation is often unnecessary.

Growth Rate & Longevity

Anubias Nangi is a slow grower — one new leaf every 3–5 weeks under typical conditions. New leaves emerge bright green before gradually deepening — watching this color transition is one of the small pleasures of keeping this cultivar. Like all Anubias, it is an extremely long-lived aquarium plant under proper care.

Terrarium and Paludarium Use

Anubias Nangi can be grown emersed in terrarium and paludarium builds with sufficient humidity and moisture at the root zone. In emersed conditions growth increases somewhat and white spathe flowers may appear, adding an elegant accent to vivarium builds.
