Anubias Nancon on Driftwood for Sale — Rare Hybrid Elegance Pre-Mounted and Ready to Place

If you’ve been searching for Anubias Nancon on driftwood for sale, Quinn’s Fins grows and mounts Anubias ‘Nancon’ right here in our on-site nursery greenhouse. Anubias Nancon is a superb and somewhat rare hybrid cultivar developed by aquarist Bob Gasser — a cross between Anubias barteri ‘Nana’ and Anubias heterophylla that produces a plant with distinctively elongated, pointed spade-like leaves and an impressively compact, manageable growth habit that bridges the gap between the tiny Nana and larger Anubias species beautifully. Pre-mounted on a natural 8 to 10 inch piece of Malaysian driftwood, Anubias Nancon on driftwood for sale at Quinn’s Fins arrives ready to place directly in your aquarium. No planting. No waiting for roots to attach. Simply position and enjoy.

Why Anubias Nancon on Driftwood for Sale Stands Apart

Anubias Nancon occupies a distinctive middle ground in the Anubias genus — more interesting leaf shape than the common Nana, more manageable size than the giant species, and a hybrid origin that makes it genuinely collectible for Anubias enthusiasts.

  • Distinctive elongated, pointed spade-like leaves to 4″ — a leaf form that sets it apart from standard rounded Anubias varieties
  • Rare Bob Gasser hybrid cultivar — developed by the same aquarist responsible for Anubias Nangi; a plant with real provenance
  • Pre-mounted on natural 8–10″ Malaysian driftwood — place directly in your aquarium with zero preparation required
  • Compact, manageable growth — grows to an impressive yet controlled size ideal for midground to background placement
  • Thrives in blackwater and tannin-rich environments — pairs naturally with the tannin-releasing Malaysian driftwood it is mounted on
  • Low to moderate light requirement — thrives without high-output lighting or specialized equipment
  • No CO2 injection required — ideal for low-tech and beginner setups
  • Shrimp, snail, and invertebrate safe — provides excellent cover and grazing surfaces

About Malaysian Driftwood

Malaysian driftwood is the preferred hardscape wood for freshwater aquariums — dense, sink-ready, and naturally rich in tannins that gradually create the warm amber tones of a natural blackwater environment. Anubias Nancon’s tolerance for tannin-rich conditions makes it a particularly well-suited match for Malaysian driftwood. Each piece is unique in natural form within the 8–10″ size range.

Growing Anubias Nancon — Care at a Glance

Never Bury the Rhizome

Never bury the rhizome in substrate. The rhizome is the thick horizontal stem from which all leaves and roots grow. Burial causes rot and kills the plant. Your pre-mounted piece arrives with the rhizome correctly exposed on the driftwood surface.

Placement

Anubias Nancon works beautifully in the midground to background of most aquarium sizes. Its compact yet impressive form creates strong visual presence without overwhelming smaller tanks. Position the driftwood to show off the elongated leaf structure from the front viewing angle.

Light

Anubias Nancon thrives in low to moderate lighting. Avoid intense direct light — slow-growing leaves are prone to algae colonization under excessive illumination without CO2. Position under floating plants or taller stem plants for natural algae shading.

Water Parameters

  • Temperature: 72–82°F (22–28°C)
  • pH: 6.0–7.5
  • Hardness: Soft to moderately hard; thrives in blackwater conditions
  • Flow: Low to moderate

CO2 & Fertilization

CO2 is not required. Regular liquid fertilizer — particularly iron and micronutrients — supports healthy new leaf production. In established fish tanks, bioload typically provides adequate nutrients without additional supplementation.

Growth Rate & Longevity

Anubias Nancon is slow-growing — one new leaf every 3–5 weeks under typical conditions. This is characteristic of the species and not a sign of poor health. Like all Anubias, it is extraordinarily long-lived when properly maintained.

Terrarium and Paludarium Use

Anubias Nancon can be grown emersed in terrarium and paludarium builds with sufficient humidity at the root zone. In emersed conditions growth is somewhat faster and white spathe flowers may appear.
