Aquarium Stem Plants for Sale — Color, Texture, and Fast Growth for Freshwater Aquascapes

Quinn’s Fins carries nursery-grown aquarium stem plants for sale — midground and background plants that grow from stem cuttings, propagate by replanting trimmed tops, and deliver some of the most vivid color available in the planted tank hobby. Available as bunches and in 2″ pots.

Stem Plants Available

  • Rotala Wallichii (Rotala wallichii) — delicate whorled needle-like leaves shift from green to vibrant pink, red, orange, and purple under high light and CO2; intermediate to advanced
  • Cardinal Plant (Lobelia cardinalis) — bright green rounded leaves with red-purple tones under high light; Dutch-style aquascaping staple; also suitable for pond margins and paludariums
  • Golden Lloydiella (Lysimachia nummularia ‘Aurea’) — brilliant golden-yellow coin-shaped leaves; one of the oldest and most beginner-friendly aquarium plants; excellent nitrate absorber

Care Summary

Plant stem bases directly into substrate with lower stem buried and crown above the substrate. Propagate by cutting above a node and replanting the cut top. Moderate to high light produces the most vivid coloration in all three species. Cardinal Plant and Golden Lloydiella thrive without CO2; Rotala Wallichii strongly benefits from CO2 for color development.
