Why are some species on your website restricted for my state/region?
I found a few fish I would like to order. I live in southern Wisconsin (right in between Madison and Milwaukee) and I have ordered fish from a few places and also have gotten some local. I see there were some fish you do not deliver to Wisconsin… I was not sure what or what would not be ok. I thought I would reach out before ordering and get some info from you! I have a 55-gallon tank currently and am almost finished cleaning up a 140 gallon. Mostly looking at getting Loaches, Gourami, and Shrimp. Would you just let me know what you think, or feel, or are alright with doing?
Thank you very much in advance!
~ Jake
Restricted species for your area are based on your State’s local laws or regulations. If we are aware of a regional restriction, we will not ship that species into that region. Restricted species and regions are clearly listed on each product listing. If there is no restriction we are aware of, then you may place an order for that item. It is ultimately your responsibility to be aware of your local laws and not order items into an area where they are not allowed. We do our best to regularly update our systems to ensure we comply with these laws. If you become aware of a restricted item that our website allows you to purchase, please let us know so we can update our settings for that item.
Additionally, our checkout process on this website recognizes when a restricted item is added to the cart with a shipping address in a state where that item is restricted. This helps us comply with local laws and avoid inadvertently shipping an item into a restricted location.
These laws are very important and help enforce guidelines for the preservation of critical local habitats and protect those spaces from invasive species. We believe these habitats are very important and we do our part to ensure their preservation by not shipping species into areas where they are not permitted. If you add something restricted to your cart, with a restricted address, you must remove that item from your cart before checkout may proceed.
